Six Months, Two Weeks

I made a promise back on August 13, 2006—two days after I relaunched this humble Not A Blog™—that I would absolutely post every M, W, F (and sometimes Sunday). Six and a half months later (giving myself November off for Nanowrimo), I finally missed my first post. Not bad, right? Right?
One week after that I’m still struggling to keep up and post daily. (I almost missed Wednesday again this week, not to mention today’s is way late and topicless.) Doing what I was doing and going where I was going, I actually forgot what day it was. That’s why I missed the post. I put up Thursday’s actually thinking it was Wednesday when I posted it, then realized later it was Thursday—and then realized sometime after that that it was the same day I posted a blog entry. This meant I posted an entry on Thursday, so I must have missed Wednesday, though at the time I wasn’t sure. When I went back to check, sure enough. Nothing on Wednesday.
I could have pulled an IngSoc at that point and just moved the post back to Wednesday, but I left it go as a reminder not to screw up again. Allow me to wax defensive at you for the next n paragraphs.
I’ve never been this busy in my life. Interestingly enough, March of last year was extremely busy for me, as well. It seems to come always at the beginning of the year into spring, slowing down sometime in mid-to-late summer. Again this year, it’s a combination of work and personal projects—the situation being that if I knew what I’d be doing with regards to my regular job, I wouldn’t have committed to all these other projects.
But committed I have. The last thing I want to do is have a month full of bullshit posts like these, yet I don’t have time to write anything else. I don’t even have time to write this.
What I need is a wee smidge of time to decompress, so I’m taking the next week off from Not A Blog™ging. During that period of time, I expect to move some really big projects out of the way, so I can focus on doing crap for Me again. It’s a tough call. Which is worse: stupid and perpetually late posts or the solid knowledge of no posts at all? I’ve tried the former for the past month or so. Time to try the latter.
Rambling returns March 19.
