MPR | Savant, Episode 1

Savant
(Filesize: 5.5 mb, Length: 6:03)

Firstly, let me give a huge thanks to Paul, not just for playing Bourdeaux, but also for composing the blows-my-mind awesome Savant theme song. (It’s the second bit of music in the clip; the first is from my uncle’s CD, That’s Bike Ridin’.) I love it.

I wrote the script for Savant over two years ago with, as I’ve mentioned previously, the intention of shooting it on video as a PBS-esque sketch. That never gelled, as so often happens with video projects, but the script never left my hard drive, and I would re-read it periodically and think to myself, I really should get around to shooting this, if only so it’s not bothering me anymore. After I did the first MPR thing totally on a whim and it turned out better than I expected, I decided that Savant was basically the same sort of thing, and I should just do it as an audio sketch. A few emails later and it was as good as done.

It’s only six minutes long, so, depending on how fast you read, it may actually take less time to go through than a typical Not A Blog™ entry. I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep doing this sort of thing because it’s quite a bit more work than I would have expected. It’s also a lot of fun, though, so if the fair winds blow my way, I’ll be sitting on Easy Street.

That is to say, if things work out and I’m feeling particularly industrious, I may do more.
