I don’t have anything heavy today, just this song. The song itself isn’t even anything spectacular. It’s a simple piano piece I wrote—ad libbed, actually—while thinking about a friend. I considered developing it into something longer or more complex, but nothing else came to me, and I rather like it the way it is now.

Rain (2.2mb)

I was playing around with fourths and fifths (The first chord is fourth on the right hand, C & F, and fifths with the left, alternating between Bb and F), but then expanded it into various other intervals in the second part. I should probably learn how to read music so I can write this stuff down.

The song is entitled Rain, so called because it reminded me of rainfall on a somber day. I think there’s some sun cutting through the melancholy in the second part, though.
