Deployment Update

Of the three readers I have left, I’m sure the majority of you are wondering what I’ve been up to. A few months ago I promised I would be gone by mid-April, and that the Not A Blog™ would remain persistently unupdated. Well, here is something of an update.
My deployment date was moved to Sunday, May 18. I leave dark and early—very early—for a flight at 6AM. I haven’t left yet, but I basically have one foot out the door (which makes it rather difficult to sleep, I might add).
What have I been doing in the meantime? Not much. Working and packing. I would love to be able to tell you that I’ve been so busy, I just haven’t had time to update the blog. Unfortunately that’s not exactly the case. After the initial shock wore off, I probably could have continued regular updates until maybe last week. But I didn’t because, you see, I didn’t have to. So here I am instead, 10 hours before I’m physically leaving the area, banging out a semi-apologetic entry about not having anything for you in the meantime.
Well what about going forward? Ha! Can’t promise anything there, either. I have a mailing list for friends and family, but no plans to update the Not A Blog™. On the one hand, I could probably copy the interesting, non-personal parts of the emails I send to others and regurgitate them here, grammatical errors and all, for your enjoyment. On the other hand, I still don’t know whether I’ll have time to write them, much less write here.
It’s simply a matter of waiting to see what happens. If you haven’t done it already, add the Not A Blog™ to your RSS reader and forget about it. Anything that happens after that is bound to be a pleasant surprise.
